Pre-orientation Meeting

Prior to the start of the credential program, newly admitted teacher candidates are required to attend a Pre-orientation meeting. New candidates will be informed of the dates, time and place of the meeting shortly after they receieve their official confirmation of admittance to the program. 

During the Pre-orientation meeting, new candidates learn about program requirements including coursework, student teaching, and assessment. They also complete and sign required paperwork to be eligible to student teach at our partner districts.

Spring 2025

Welcome to the CSUF Single Subject Credential Program (SSCP)!   You are officially a Teacher Credential Candidate (TC) and we are excited to begin this journey with you.  To help you get started, we have created this new student webpage to list all upcoming activities and program information you will need to be ready to start the SSCP in January.  Please take time and ensure that you read all the information and that you complete all the action items listed below.  Most training items and documents are due to our office by January 16, 2025 .  Check back regularly as we will be updating information.  

1.  ACCEPT YOUR OFFER OF ADMISSION & PAY DEPOSIT

CSUF Admissions sent an email to accept your admission to the university. Make sure you accept and pay the deposit fee of $250. If you do not accept your admission, you will not be able to register for classes.

3. CONDITIONALLY ADMITTED STUDENTS 

If your admission status indicates that you are "conditionally admitted,"  follow instructions in table below to clear your conditional status.  Items are due to our office by January 17, 2025.  It is your responsibility to clear your conditional status before classes begin to avoid future holds on your registration. 

4. SSCP HANDBOOK 

This is a rigorous and demanding program that requires your full commitment and participation.  To help you prepare, please read the   SSCP Handbook Opens in new window before Orientation.  Please pay close attention to the Program Policies, General Program PoliciesOpens in new window page where you will find the attendance policy as well as guidelines for professional attire.  Additionally, please ensure you understand the Professional DispositionsOpens in new window expected of our candidates.  Teacher candidates are held to these standards from Day 1.  Candidates who do not meet the expectations outlined will be placed on a "Teacher Candidate Improvement Plan."

5. REQUIRED FORMS AND MANDATORY TRAINING

The forms and training listed below must be completed in accordance with university and state credentialing guidelines.

Mandated Reporter Educator Training - The following training module will take approximately 4 hours to complete:

CPR and TB

Your CPR and TB should be completed and current for the duration of the program.  Please make sure you submit your current CPR or updated CPR and/or TB with subject "CPR-TB LastName, FirstName" to EDSCAdmissions@fullerton.edu as soon as possible.

6. UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION 

The information you submitted with your application to the credential program is used for program related communication and placements.  Changes in   address,   emails,   phone numbers, and   names   should be reported to the University; make updates in CSUF Student Portal

7.  HEALTH INSURANCE AND STUDENT INJURY

Purchasing and maintaining your own health insurance is very important and highly recommended.  Do not assume that either the University or the school site will provide medical coverage in your role as a fieldwork student or a student teacher.  For some illnesses or injuries, the Student Health Center on campus may be able to provide treatment.

In the event of an injury on campus or at your school site, please contact your  SAC and the SSCP Director (mgrant@fullerton.edu) within 12 hours of the incident.  The SAC or SSCP Director must complete the  Student or Visitor Injury/Illness Report form on the EHS Forms siteOpens in new window and submit it to Environmental Health and Safety (T-1400) within 24 hours of the incident.

8. ADDITIONAL RESOURCES AND OPPORTUNITIES

BILINGUAL AUTHORIZATION

If you plan to pursue the Bilingual Authorization, you will need to contact Dr. Fernando Rodriguez-Valls (frodriguez-valls@fullerton.eduOpens in new window ) immediately, if you have not done so. You must complete an assessment by Dr. Rodriguez-Valls to participate in the courses for the Bilingual Authorization.  Candidates completing the credential program in May might be eligible to take the courses as early as summer and candidates completing the credential program in December might be eligible take the courses as early as spring.
