Teaching Performance Assessment

The California State University Fullerton Single Subject Credential Program utilizes the  Redeveloped  CalTPA  (2018) to assess candidate performance and proficiency.

  • Candidates must successfully submit materials for  CalTPA Cycle 1: Learning About Students and Planning Instruction before they may advance to the second semester of the program. While each first semester course will have content that prepares candidates for Cycle, there will also be five (5) syncrhonous meetings (part of EDSC 460A) that provide explicit support for candidates' work on Cycle 1. Candidates must successfully complete   CalTPA Cycle 2: Assessment-Driven Instruction  before   they complete the program and are recommended for a credential. While each second semester course will have content that prepares candidates for Cycle 2, there is also specialized course, EDSC 460, that will provide explicit support for candidates' work on Cycle 2.
  • Each candidate will be required to submit a signed TPA Attestation form to the CalTPA Coordinator before submitting their Cycle 1 CalTPA materials. This signed attestation will be kept in the Secondary Education office for a period of one year.
  • The SSCP CalTPA Policy document describes in detail requirements for program continuation and completion involving the CalTPA.
