Preliminary Speech-Language Pathology
(1) A Commission-accredited program sponsor shall determine prior to recommending a candidate for a credential, that the candidate holds or has been recommended for a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a program accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Council on Academic Accreditation.
Response: The process of recommending a candidate entails the candidate applying for the credential in the Credential Preparation Office. The office then emails the Communicative Disorders credential coordinator a final credential clearance request. The coordinator verifies that the candidate has met academic requirements for the credential by viewing the candidate's unofficial transcript, and that the candidate has met the clinical requirements for the credential by reviewing the candidate's clinical competencies and clinical clock hours recorded in CALIPSO, a web-based application that manages key aspects of academic and clinical education for speech-language pathology programs. The coordinator then sends an email with this verification to the Credentials office. The credential analyst verifies that the candidate's master's degree has posted and the credential is recommended. The Communicative Disorders program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation.
