Admission Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
- Grade point average of at least 3.0 cumulative or last 60 semester units (applicants with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0 may be conditionally admitted). The application review process allows us to consider experiences, attributes and other academic metrics as well as the value an applicant would contribute to learning and teaching. If you do not currently meet the minimum GPA requirements, we still encourage you to submit an application.
- Good standing at the last college attended
- Approved undergraduate major
- Personal Statement: In CalState Apply, please upload a personal statement (500 words) indicating your reasons for choosing the Master of Literacy and Reading Education. Please describe what goals you plan to achieve as an equity-minded and anti-racist literacy leader and how you intend to foster just, equitable, and inclusive education (JEIE). Please provide specific examples. View rubric

- Resume: In CalState Apply, please upload a current resume, indicating your educational history including valid teaching credentials (if applicable), teaching experience, relevant work, or applied experiences. Please include the names and contact information of three (3) professional or educational references.
