Mr. Boynton has spent 35 years in the private sector managing training functions for Fortune 500 companies including, Walt Disney Productions, Hilton Hotels, McKesson, The Los Angeles Times, Mitsubishi Motors and Gateway Computers. In addition Mr. Boynton’s consulting company has worked with small medium and large companies to improve performance and service levels, companies include the Blue and Gold fleet (San Francisco, CA) Speedway Children’s Charity (Las Vegas, NV) and Toyota Financial Services (Torrance, CA). Leading teams from 2 to 40, Mr. Boynton has demonstrated the ability to consistently demonstrate measurable improvement including a documented Return On Investment (ROI) at the Los Angeles Times. During Mr. Boynton’s time Directing the Training Organization at First Consulting Group, the company was named one of the Top Ten Learning Leaders in America by the American Society of Training and Development.

MSIDT Faculty Experience:

After graduating from the MSIDT program with a 4.0 in 2006, Mr. Boynton was asked to join the faculty that same year. He has been teaching courses every year since joining and has extensively modified the   Authoring and Hardware   (505) class twice to ensure the course content stayed current with developments in the field. Mr. Boynton has also been a published author and speaker at national training conferences.

IDT 505 – Hardware and Authoring Environments in Instructional Contexts

Provide students with necessary understanding of operating systems, hardware, and networking environments to develop instructional tools and products using a multimedia authoring tool.

Course objectives include:

  • The ability to describe and manipulate the basic levels of an authoring environment
  • The use hardware and software to apply basic animation, sound, and other multimedia properties to an authoring environment
  • The analysis and assessment of basic media and authoring programming elements as they apply to hardware/networking environments
