Barbara Calcagnie Glaeser, Ph.D.

Founding Faculty Member of the MSIDT Program

Dr. Barbara Glaeser is a Professor in the Department of Special Education at California State University, Fullerton. Dr. Glaeser coordinates the Education Specialist Program to train teachers to work with students with Mild to Moderate Disabilities. In addition, she is part of the Intern Teacher Program faculty.
Dr. Glaeser teaches Collaboration and Reading and Language Arts Instruction in the Preliminary Teaching program and Research Methods and Mild/Moderate Seminar in the Graduate Program. She was co-author of the PROCESS Program Improvement Grant that is currently funding several projects, one of which is training teachers in local schools to co-teach to improve achievement for diverse students.

Scholarly Agenda:

Dr. Glaeser research currently focuses on co-teaching, teacher effectiveness, and writing and validating instructional materials for students with Learning Disabilities.

Classes:

IDT 535 – Instructional Strategies for Pre-K through Adulthood

Provide students with training in instructional strategies for Pre-K through adulthood. Emphasis on current research on instructional strategies and assistive technologies in a variety of instructional contexts.
Course objectives include:

The ability to effectively select the instructional strategy that meets the instructional needs of the learner
The understanding and effective use of the concepts of learning styles in a variety of instructional contexts
The assessment and utilization of appropriate technology with a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of the learner.

Service:

Dr. Glaeser serves on the University Institutional Review Board and the Professional Leaves Committee, the College of Education Technology Committee, the Advisory Board for the Instructional Design and Technology Program, and is on the Board of Directors of the California Learning Disabilities Association.
