To apply to the Education Specialist Credential Program, you must first be enrolled at Cal State Fullerton. Begin that process at Cal State Apply .
Note: If you have NOT taken 3 SPED pre-requisites (SPED 322, SPED 371, & SPED 425), select Teaching Credential Only (e.g. Single or Multiple Subject, PPS, Librarian, Admin, Cal State TEACH", then choose one of the pre-requisite programs either "Early Childhood Pre-Requisite Credential Program", "Preliminary Mild/Moderate Pre-requisites Credential Program", or "Preliminary Moderate/Severe Pre-requisites Credential Program."
If you have already taken the pre-requisites OR are currently taking them through Extended Ed/Open University, please select "Teaching Credential Only (e.g. Single or Multiple Subject, PPS, Librarian, Admin, Cal State TEACH", then choose either "Education Specialist Credential- Early Childhood-Preliminary", Education Specialist Credential- Mild Moderate- Preliminary", or "Education Specialist Credential- Moderate/Sever- Preliminary."
Applying to the Program
This application is specific to our program. You’ll need to submit this along with all of your Application Documents. Application Checklist .
The application review process allows us to consider experiences, attributes and other academic metrics as well as the value an applicant would contribute to learning and teaching. If you do not currently meet the minimum GPA requirements, we still encourage you to submit an application.
Credential Enrollment Fees
You can pay securely and online, or pay on-campus at Cashier's Office (Fullerton Campus - GH-180).
All Credential students who intend to enroll at CSU Fullerton must accept their offer of admission and pay a non-refundable $250 enrollment deposit. The deposit will offset a portion of your Registration Fees for the first semester. This is NOT an additional fee. Once paid, this deposit will reduce the cost of your fall tuition by $250.
You must accept admission and pay your enrollment deposit through your Student Portal, within the Student Center. Under the Admissions area of the Student Center, click on the Application Status link. The Accept/Decline button will be displayed. Click on the Accept/Decline button to accept your admission to CSU Fullerton. Accepting admission and paying the enrollment deposit are required to confirm your intent to enroll at CSU Fullerton.
Our College-wide deadline for final payment the $250 enrollment deposit is July 15th.
Students with financial aid will have the enrollment deposit waived until financial aid is awarded.
Fall: February 15th, March 15th, & April 15th
For Fall 2021, those credential applicants who have completed or are currently taking the Ethnic Studies course will be given priority enrollment if their complete file is received by the final deadline of April 15th. As soon as their file is complete with all admissions items, prerequisites successfully completed and evidence of completion or concurrent enrollment in an approved Ethnic Studies course, they will be interviewed. If these applicants successfully pass the interview, they will be guaranteed admission to the Education Specialist Credential Program. We have three deadlines, Feb. 15th, March 15th and April 15th. We will reserve room in our program for all students who complete the ethnic studies requirement as long as their complete application is received by April 15th
Spring: September 15th, October 15th, & November 15th
**We recommend submitting your documents by the first deadline so you have a better opportunity of getting in to the program. All file items must be completed and submitted by the deadline in order to be considered for the program. The only requirement that can be in progress are the pre-requisite courses.
