Combined Credential and Master's Program

The Combined program is a full-time, 16-month (60 units) program completed in four semesters (including summer) designed for teacher candidates to simultaneously earn a Multiple Subject Credential and a Master of Science in Curriculum and InstructionOpens in new window . The program includes some online and hybrid courses. The Combined program begins in the fall semester only.

Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA (cumulative or last 60 semester units) and have completed their bachelor's degree to apply to this program.  The application review process allows us to consider experiences, attributes and other academic metrics as well as the value an applicant would contribute to learning and teaching. 

 

Semester 1 (Fall):

  • Methods courses (EDEL 430, EDEL 433, EDEL 434, EDEL 435), and seminars (EDEL 450)
  • Fieldwork (EDEL 438)
  • Five weeks of full-time student teaching (EDEL 439)
  • Coursework and fieldwork must be completed before student teaching begins
  • CalTPA Instructional Cycle 1 $150

SEMESTER 2 (SPRING):

  • Methods courses (EDEL 429, 436)
  • Master’s courses (EDEL 511, 512, and 548/SPED 463)
  • Coursework takes place on selected days/times. Credential classes are held during the day and master's classes are typically held in the afternoon or evening.

SEMESTER 3 (SUMMER):

  • Master’s courses (EDEL 536, 552, and 529)
  • Coursework takes place on selected days/times and requires in-person, online, and hybrid meetings.

SEMESTER 4 (FALL):

  • Methods course (EDEL 437) followed by eight weeks of full-time student teaching (EDEL 439)
  • Master’s courses (EDEL 530, 594)
  • Coursework takes place on selected days/times. Credential classes are held during the day and master's classes are typically held in the afternoon or evening.
  • CalTPA Instructional Cycle 2 $150
