Elementary and Bilingual Education

Preparing Teachers Who Change Communities

The Department of Elementary and Bilingual Education at CSUF prepares teachers to serve the diverse children and families of Southern California and beyond. Grounded in culturally sustaining pedagogy and a commitment to just, equitable, and inclusive education, we develop educators who are ready to teach, ready to lead, and ready to make a difference from day one.

Goals

  1. Develop reflective, justice-oriented teachers who can meet students where they are and build on what they bring.
  2. Center bilingualism and cultural diversity as strengths in every classroom.
  3. Connect teacher preparation to the community so our graduates are rooted in the schools and neighborhoods they serve.

About Us

The Department of Elementary and Bilingual Education has been preparing teachers for Southern California's classrooms for decades. We offer various Multiple Subject Credential pathways, multiple Master's programs, and add-ons to enhance your teaching credential.

Our faculty are researchers, former classroom teachers, and community educators who bring real-world experience into every course. We believe teacher preparation is not just a technical process; it's a deeply human one. Our programs are built around the idea that the best teachers know their content, know their students, and know how to advocate for both.
