Summer STEM Residential Institute









Mission Statement

The mission of the Summer STEM Residential Institute is to support and provide local high school students in the Careers in Education pathway, extensive and robust early academic foundational learning level experiences in science and experiential learning experiences in teaching. This holistic approach to student learning and development, assists students in making informed decisions about becoming teachers and promotes interpersonal, collaborative, and leadership skills to provide a smooth and efficient transition to post-secondary education.


Residency 3


Lessons in Science

  • Science lessons from Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL)/NASA
  • Taught by trained high school teachers
  • Hands-on learning experience




Teaching Experience

  • Learn instructional methods
  • Gain teaching experience with elementary students
  • Work with other students in delivering science lessons


Residency 2Participate in Fun & Engaging Activities

  • Network
  •  Develop and enhance leadership, collaborative, and interpersonal skills
  • Engage in career exploration activities




  • FREE residential program
  • All meals, room and board covered
  • Experience living on campus
  • Meet other future teachers
  • Learn how to do a lesson plan
  • Get exposed to teaching elementary students
