Application Process

Complete a formal online application to the university  CSU Mentor web site indicating your interest in the MSIDT program at CSU Fullerton for Fall 2017. We also accept application for Spring 2018. You will then receive a username and ID from the university and can manage your own application process, primarily the submission and evaluation of your official transcripts. As per the information you will receive through your CSU Mentor site, send your transcripts directly to the CSUF Admissions Office (P.O. Box 6900, Fullerton, CA 92834-6900).

Application Deadline

Applications for Fall 2017 will close on June 30, 2017. We accept new students on a rolling basis, therefore it is in your best interest to apply soon. Applications for Spring 2018 close on December 1, 2017.

Support Materials Deadline
Completed essay and resume are to be sent when application is submitted. Email your support materials directly to msidt@fullerton.edu

  • RESUME- include the applicant's academic background, technology-related experience, and professional experience.
  • WRITTEN ESSAY- double-spaced essay (3 pages maximum) (Times New Roman, 12 pt, and 1 inch margins) addressing topics such as: why the applicant would be a good candidate for the program; the results of the technology survey (Smarter Measure); experience and/or commitment to online learning environments; experience in training and/or curriculum development; time management; level and types of technology skills; access to technology; and future professional goals.
  • TECHNOLOGY SURVEY Smarter Measure Technology Survey is a self-paced assessment tool which takes about 15-20 minutes to complete and helps you look at your readiness to participate in online education. You will likely find this tool interesting even if you have previously taken online courses. There is no cost to complete the survey. Please include msidt@fullerton.edu in the report profile at the completion of this tool so that we receive a copy for your file prior to our interview.

After your supporting documents (essay and resume) have been submitted, the department staff will contact you by phone or e-mail to schedule an appointment for your telephone interview with the Program Director/MSIDT faculty members. This interview is related to the information in your essay and resume.

All Graduate students who intend to enroll at CSU Fullerton must accept their offer of admission and pay a non-refundable $250 enrollment deposit. The deposit will offset a portion of your Registration Fees for the first semester.  You must accept admission and pay your enrollment deposit through your Student Portal, within the Student Center.  Under the Admissions area of the Student Center, click on the Application Status link. The Accept/Decline button will be displayed. Click on the Accept/Decline button to accept your admission to CSU Fullerton.  Accepting admission and paying the enrollment deposit are required to confirm your intent to enroll at CSU Fullerton. Please note that there is a GPA requirement for admission to CSUF of 2.5 cumulative undergraduate GPA resulting in a BA/BS degree from an accredited institution and a 3.0 GPA department requirement (GPA’s within 2.5 and 3.0 could be accepted conditionally based on review of resume, essay and interview).

Remember, there is NO GRE requirement, and NO separate list of required references. You will be able to see what is required at the university level for Admissions and Records when you apply through the CSU Mentor site for graduate admissions. Please note that there is another program offered at CSUF which focuses on technology that may be an option for your professional goals. The MS in Education with a concentration in Educational Technology is designed to (1) help classroom teachers upgrade their skills and knowledge about new educational technologies and their role in the classroom and (2) prepare teachers for technology leadership roles in public or private schools.
