Grants/Scholarships

REG offers a $300 grant to be used for classroom materials or professional development.

Applications must be received by April 1.

A Note From Our 2012-13 Grant Recipient: Imelda Loya:

“Thank you very much for the generous REG grant of $300 to purchase books for our classroom library. This is the first year that I began implementing the Daily Five program in my classroom. It is a highly independent program that motivates students to increase their reading stamina. They are engaged in their work and are empowered to choose from the different Daily Five components. These new sets of books have provided more reading opportunities for my students. One of my more reluctant readers finished one of the biographies in 3 days! Once again, thank you for supporting our literacy program, especially with high quality Spanish materials. Spanish books are harder to come about, so this grant definitely gave us a boost in our Spanish reading material.”

Reading Educators Guild (REG) Scholarship

Amount:   $500 

  The REG scholarship was established by the alumni of the Reading Department to recognize and honor students for outstanding academic performance and potential for future leadership. It is open to continuing College of Education students pursuing a Master’s or reading specialist credential. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and submit the application essay following the College of Education procedures.
