We offer a comprehensive and flexible pathway into the field of special education through three distinct Education Specialist credential programs: Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN), Extensive Support Needs (ESN), and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), as well as a Master’s Degree in Special Education.

Our programs are led by a highly dedicated, knowledgeable, and caring faculty, recognized for their contributions to research, advocacy, and excellence in teaching. With 100% coursework online in the MMSN, ESN, and Master’s programs, our teacher candidates enjoy the flexibility to balance their education with their personal and professional needs. Our full-time credential programs are completed in one year, allowing aspiring educators to enter the field quickly and confidently.

Our department is deeply rooted in the community, maintaining strong partnerships with local school districts and organizations to ensure our candidates receive practical, real-world training. Candidates have the opportunity to "earn while they learn" by teaching on an intern credential while completing their coursework. Paraeducators/instructional aides may fulfill student teaching requirements in their current positions through our Para-Ed Pathway, pending individual district approval. We are especially proud of our inclusive and diverse student body, which includes individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds, age groups, family situations, and life experiences. Our reputation for academic excellence, community engagement, and student support makes the Department of Special Education a top choice for those committed to making a difference in the lives of exceptional learners.

Our faculty are knowledgeable and take pride in teaching our students
