The Credential Preparation Center (CPC) supports CSUF credential candidates through the final step of earning a California credential. We review applications, verify requirements, and recommend qualified candidates to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). 

How to be recommended for your Credential

The credential recommendation process is two-part

To initiate the process, upon completion of your credential program, you will need to be recommended by the Credential Prep Center. This online recommendation requires you to submit the appropriate credential application, pay a $25 processing fee, and provide any missing official documents. All application materials are to be emailed to the Credential Prep Center. Once all required documents have been reviewed, a CSUF Credential Analyst will submit your credential recommendation to CTC. 

Once you have been recommended for your Credential

Upon CSUF's recommendation of your credential, you will need to complete the following steps to finalize the process:

This must be completed within 90 days from the recommendation date

  • Access the CTC website and follow the instructions in the CTC email you will immediately receive after your recommendation is submitted
  • Confirm that your CTC profile includes a valid email address
  • Pay the CTC online application fee. CTC charges a $100 application fee, plus an additional $2.50 online fee (payable using Visa, Mastercard, or debit card)
  • Your credential document should be posted within 5-10 business days of payment received. You can check your application status on the CTC website and can contact them directly with any questions about the online application process.
