This letter demonstrates the rationale for the project and the reciprocal relationship. A letter from a superintendent is not required. This is just an example of a possible letter.

Dear Ms. X,

The School District is fully supportive of our partnership. Our organization has a long history of partnering in programs that benefit our students, parents, teachers, and school communities.

We are reaching out to ask for your assistance with our ongoing concerns regarding our STEM work. We are concerned that one school has not realized the potential we know our students can achieve.

The recent economic downturn, mixed with the teacher shortage, has hit us particularly hard. In addition, our students are not demonstrating proficiency in science on the CST (California Standards Test). The test score for this school shows that only 9% of our students are proficient in the area of science.

We would like an opportunity to discuss a possible partnership that could improve practice for your student teachers and our current in-service teachers.
