PROGRAM INTRODUCTION

Our online Master of Science degree programs are designed to help educators upgrade their skills, become informed about new ideas in preschool through grade 8 teaching, advance just, equitable and inclusive education as leaders in schools, school districts, and other organizations. All of our programs are 100% online asynchronous.

M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction (100% online)

The Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction is a 5-semester program (no summer classes) which helps career classroom teachers prepare for curriculum and instructional leadership.  Students may elect to specialize in curriculum and instruction or follow the study plan for one of three concentrations:

  1. Social Justice - for educators interested in examining education and schooling with a focus on social justice. Candidates explore and learn to articulate strategies to create equity and inclusion in their educational settings.
  2. Early Childhood Education - for professionals interested in meeting the greater community and professional need for quality education during the critical early years of school.  
  3. Math/Science Education - for professionals who want to deepen their understanding of mathematics and science curriculum and pedagogy.  Provides the opportunity to promote problem solving specifically through the use of technology.

IMPORTANT DATES - ADMISSIONS DEADLINES

  • October 1st- Application available in CSU Apply
  • June 1st- Application Deadline

We review and accept applications on a rolling basis until all seats are filled. Therefore, we recommend that you apply before the June 1st deadline. All transcripts must be received in the Office of Admissions by July 15th.

The availability of programs each semester is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.  If your selected program does not meet the required number of applicants to proceed, you will be contacted for alternative options and advisement.

M.S. in Educational Technology  (100% online)

Through a cohort model, teachers in the program engage in small learning communities that encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and the development of knowledge and skills to prepare them for technology leadership responsibilities. The program focuses on core concepts of equity, educational technology integration, distance education, instructional design, the 4 Cs (critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration) and technology professional development.   For more information about this program, visit the Educational Technology webpage. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Our application review process allows us to consider a variety of experiences, attributes and academic metrics. Please review the following requirements for our program:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or GPA of 3.0 in last 60 units
  3. Successful completion of a teacher credential program or equivalent experience*
  4. No entrance exam required (i.e. GRE, GMAT)

*If an applicant has not completed a credential program, the department will consider equivalent experience  in lieu of a credential. To request an Equivalent Teaching Experience Petition, please email [email protected].

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

  1. Complete the Cal State Apply application. Follow these directions to help you navigate the application.
  2. Pay the application fee.
  3. Send hardcopies and/or electronic transcripts from ALL institutions to CSUF Office of Admissions, even if only for one class or if they show up as transfer units on a different transcript. Some institutions will provide electronic transcripts. Deadline to send your transcripts is August 1st for fall and December 1st for spring. 

If you attended CSUF as an undergraduate or post-baccalaureate student, there might be a possibility you do not need to resend your transcripts. An email will be sent to you after you submit your application in case you need to resend your transcripts.

Applicants who are planning to apply for financial aid should not wait until admission is granted. Apply for financial aid as soon as possible.

MASTERS ENROLLMENT FEE

All Graduate students who intend to enroll at CSU Fullerton must accept their offer of admission and pay a non-refundable $250 enrollment deposit. The deposit will offset a portion of your Registration Fees for the first semester. This is NOT an additional fee. Once paid, this deposit will reduce the cost of your tuition by $250. Students with financial aid will have the enrollment deposit waived until financial aid is awarded.

You must accept admission and pay your enrollment deposit through your Student Portal, within the Student Center. Under the Admissions area of the Student Center, click on the Application Status link. The Accept/Decline button will be displayed. Click on the Accept/Decline button to accept your admission to CSU Fullerton. Accepting admission and paying the enrollment deposit are required to confirm your intent to enroll at CSU Fullerton.

Our College-wide deadline for final payment of the $250 enrollment deposit is July 15th.
