FACULTY IN THE NEWS

Dr. Belinda Karge was nominated by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to lead the publication of a monograph on state-wide Intern programs in California: California Special Education Intern Program Monograph 2006.   The monograph has been distributed to every Superintendent and Human Resource Director in California. It has received national attention, as members of the National Association on Alternative Certification have requested copies and have asked Dr. Karge to speak about the California programs at their conference this April.  Read more about Dr. Karge at Education Professors Offer Support and Guidance.

Dr. Jan Weiner was honored on February 3, 2007 with the Robert Gaylord-Ross Scholar Award in the area of services for individuals with severe disabilities at the 25th Annual CALTASH Conference.  Dr. Weiner is a member of the Executive Board member of the non-profit organization Integrated Resources Institute.  As an Executive Board Member of Integrated Resources Institute (IRI), she provides consultation and leadership to assist with the development of employment opportunities for adults with significant disabilities. IRI efforts have resulted in multiple successful corporate initiatives for the employment of persons with disabilities.  CALTASH is a California non-profit member organization that supports practices that promote the resolution that all people, regardless of their label or perceived level of disability, should direct the course of their own lives, and to live and participate successfully in inclusive schools and communities.
