Writing and Technology

Technical Requirements:

Access to appropriate hardware, software & infrastructure and skill in using various applications is necessary for learning success in all classes. Students should have reliable access to:

  1. A personal computer to locate, create, move, copy, delete, name, rename, and save files and folders on hard drives and on secondary storage devices such as floppy disks
  2. Microsoft Word on a PC computer to create, edit, format, store, track changes, retrieve, and print documents, including electronic editing
  3. an electronic mail system to receive, create, edit, print, save, and send email messages with and without attached files
  4. an Internet browser to search and retrieve information from the World Wide Web
  5. Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, FrontPage and Publisher

Writing Requirements:

Clear and effective written communication is a necessary skill for learning success in all classes. Students should be able to:

  1. Write with clarity and precision
  2. Use Microsoft Word on a PC computer to create, format, store, track changes, retrieve, print, and electronically edit documents
  3. Accept that revision is at the heart of writing well. Will this expectation in mind, students may be required to rewrite work that their instructors deem as not being at the graduate level.
