All first semester student teachers are being trained in co-teaching model by peers

Co-Teaching Training

On Friday November 8, Dr. Minerva Chavez’s EDSC 440S Teacher Candidates currently participating in the Co-teaching Model of Teacher Preparation presented the history, definition and seven strategies of Co-Teaching model to their peers. They explained co-teaching as a collaborative model in which a public school Cooperating Teacher and university Teacher Candidate work together in the classroom to support student learning, sharing the planning, organization, delivery, and assessment of instruction. After describing each of the seven Co-Teaching strategies with examples of how they are currently being implemented, the presenters met with participants in small groups, as shown in the picture, to demonstrate one of the strategies, Station Teaching, with a sample Co-teaching lesson plan as a focus. This training prepared the audience to use Co-Teaching strategies during their student teaching experiences.
