Lecturers for Part-Time Pool
The Department of Secondary Education is seeking highly qualified and motivated Part-time Lecturers to teach credential courses and supervise candidates.
Qualifications
Applicants must have earned a MA or MS in education or related field; have recent public secondary school teaching experience; meet requirements of EDSC Technology Competency and be capable of Blackboard course delivery; be committed to ongoing professional development to maintain currency in the field; have knowledge of California Single Subject Credential requirements; and meet course-specific qualifications as noted on this Web site.
Appointment and Salary
All part-time faculty appointments are made as Lecturers, under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the California State University system and the California Faculty Association. Initial appointments are for one semester only. Salaries vary depending upon qualifications and experience. Typical starting salaries for part-time faculty range from $3500 to approximately $4000 for a three-unit class. Appointment Date & Academic Calendar
Most positions open between the close of registration and first day of instruction each semester. The fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the spring term runs from the beginning of February through the end of May.
Personnel Reviews
Regular performance evaluations of part-time lecturers are made by the department or program according to the terms of the adopted University Policy Statement (UPS 210.060). Positive reviews are based upon student ratings of instruction, course materials, and in-class observations made by a department personnel committee member or the department chairperson. The primary service responsibility of part-time faculty is to provide opportunities for student consultation outside of the regular class hours; on-line discussion periods or e-mail contacts shall not be a complete substitute for face-to-face consultation periods.

Application Review Process
Application materials may be submitted anytime and are generally reviewed twice each year-in May for the fall semester and in December for the spring semester.
