Sections of prerequisite courses are offered in the fall and spring semesters at the Irvine campus. For specific days and times, click on the Online Class Schedule and select Secondary Education. In addition, the Social Studies program offers a spring to fall program at the Irvine campus, and Foundational Level Mathematics program offers a fall to spring program. Contact the program advisors for more information. |

We recommend that you apply online at CSU Mentor. Apply as a post-baccalaureate student with your objective, single subject credential. Be sure to identify your content area. |

The deadline for fall or spring admissions varies from semester to semester based on enrollment fluctuations. We recommend that you apply early. |

Subject matter competence does not need to be completed before you submit your application, but you will only be admitted conditionally. You cannot begin the program until you have established subject matter competence because you will be student teaching in the first semester of the program. |

There are 12 units of prerequisite coursework and an additional course is recommended as a prerequisite. In addition, candidates who hope to be admitted to the Professional Track must also complete an additional course. |

You may purchase a Class Schedule booklet at the Titan bookstore on campus or click on the Online Class Schedule and select Secondary Education. All the program prerequisites are listed with time, days, location, and instructor. |

To find out if coursework competed at another university will meet our prerequisites, submit a Course Equivalency Petition as directed. Be aware that catalog descriptions must be equivalent. Allow four weeks for this process. |

There are several options for establishing subject matter expertise, namely, completing a Subject Matter Preparation Program or passing the appropriate CSETS for your content area. - Meet subject matter competency through a Subject Matter Preparation Program or successful passage of the CSETs for your content area.
- Complete Single Subject Credential Program prerequisites.
- Apply and be admitted to California State University, Fullerton as a post-baccalaureate student with a single subject credential objective.
- Apply and be accepted to the Single Subject Credential Program.
- Complete the Single Subject Credential Program (a two semester program of 34-40 units).

The Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) is a state-wide standardized performance assessment for teacher candidates. This assessment is designed to give pre-service teachers the opportunity to develop, refine, and demonstrate their teaching knowledge, skills, and abilities during their teacher preparation program. There is a series of four courses that must be successfully completed. These courses and additional information is provided on the CLAD Certificate Program Web site. Course numbers and names have changed, but they still count towards the CLAD Certificate. |
