About the Center

We work to put research into practice by uniting teacher education scholars across the College of Education by utilizing the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards model as a framework for designing and implementing professional development programs, building professional coaching and mentoring capacity among local educators, and designing tools to evaluate effective practice.

The CMTI offers the following services:

  • Support for individuals or cohorts of teachers pursuing National Board Certification.
  • Support and skill development for National Board candidate support providers.
  • Facilitation of video clubs and/or lesson study groups to systematically examine and improve teaching practice and student learning.
  • Support for developing evidence-based observation and analytic skills and tools for “classroom walkthrough” participants with the aim of improving teaching practice and student learning.
