High Impact Teaching With Technology Symposium

The Center for Maximizing Teacher Impact is pleased to host the High Impact Teaching With Technology symposium on Saturday, May 10th at Langsdorf Hall at the Cal State Fullerton campus. The symposium highlights work of local teachers and teacher education faculty who use technology to help students construct and extend knowledge to achieve the Common Core State Standards, 21st Century Skills, and the Next Generation Science Standards.

The keynote address will be delivered by local math teacher, blogger, and consultant, Robert Kaplinsky. The title of his talk is “The need for reasoning and sense-making.” Other speakers and topics include:

  • David Damico (Sweetwater Union High School District) – Using the SAMR framework to guide technology integration
  • Thomas Duarte (Anaheim Union High School District) – Using Chromebooks to advance student learning in mathematics
  • Kim Case (Cal State Fullerton) – Students using iMovie to extend learning in the humanities
  • Susan Glasset-Farrely (Cal State Fullerton) – Screencasting in mathematics
  • Jenny Brenner (Placentia Yorba Linda Unified School District) – Cellphones and Websites and Chromebooks, oh my! Technology in the social studies classroom
  • Kekai Bryant-Williams – (Los Angeles Unfied School District) – Using technology in the mathematics classroom
  • Walter O’Brien (Whittier Union High School District) – Using student-created iMovies to enhance and assess students’ science learning
  • Scott Thompson (Capistrano Unified School District) – Using Live Scribe pens to assess student learning in science

Check in begins at 9:30 AM in Langsdorf Hall. Concurrent sessions will run from 10-10:50, 12:10-1, and 1:10-2. A keynote address will be delivered from 11-11:40 followed by lunch from 11:40-12:10.

Parking at CSUF is free on Saturday. It is recommended that you park in a lot or structure on the south of campus (lots F, C, or CP, or the Nutwood or Eastside parking structures)
