Elementary School

If you want to be an elementary school teacher, it means you are interested in teaching children ages 4- 13. You will likely teach Transition Kindergarten through 8th grade. You will need to have a bachelor’s degree and a Multiple Subject teaching credential. If want to teach middle school you will teach two core (math, science, social studies and language arts) subjects.

You can major in any subject; however, CSUF has majors that align with elementary school teaching requirements. There are also recommended GE courses that will prepare you for the credential admission requirements.

Please come in for advising to learn more and to develop a study plan.

If you are close to completing your bachelor’s degree or already have a bachelor’s degree and want to learn more about the multiple subject credential program please visit the Elementary and Bilingual Education department website.
