Multiple Subject Department Requirements

Initial Application Items (required by deadline)
  1. Complete credential program application
  2. Provide official transcripts from all colleges attended (including CSUF)
  3. Admissions & Processing Fee- $50.00 (show receipt from Cashiers Office-UH-180) apply online
  4. Must have applied to CSUF (Graduate/Post baccalaureate Application.)
  5. Autobiography - which should be three to five pages typed.
  6. Certificate of Clearance (fingerprints/background check). See Christine Wyder in EC 182. Contact her at (714) 278-4028 for information.
  7. Must attend an overview prior to application deadline.

Remaining Application Items (your file will not be reviewed until these items are submitted)
  1. Successful Completion of Program prerequisites:
    • Child or Human Development
      • CAS101
      • CAS 312
      • CAS 315
      • PSYC 361 or equivalent(CAS 325A & CAS 325B will complete this requirement for CHAD majors)
    • Introduction to Elementary Classroom Teaching
      • EDEL 315 or equivalent & Grade of "B" or better
    • Cultural Pluralism in Elementary Schools
      • EDEL 325 or equivalent & Grade of "B" or better
  2. GPA at least 2.75 in all baccalaureate and post baccalaureate or GPA of at least 2.75 in last 60 semester units attempted.
  3. Subject Matter Competence - Complete passage of CSET exam.
  4. Faculty Recommendations 2 faculty recommendations. (Minimum 1 faculty and 1 alternative)
  5. Child Youth Experience 2 experiences required, 1 in a public K-6 regular education setting.
  6. TB test and MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) verification
  7. Pass the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
  8. Successful Interview with faculty member
  9. English Proficiency - your written and oral will be evaluated throughout the admission process. Including but not limited to your autobiography and faculty interview.
