| Teacher Job Fairs and Online Resources |

The Career Planning & Placement Center coordinates Teacher Job Fairs for California State University , Fullerton students. These job fairs provide a wonderful opportunity for you to talk with district administrators and school principals who will freely share with you information about public and private school teaching opportunities and requirements. You can be very candid in talking with these representatives, and they will provide you good feedback. All this information will be helpful to you when you prepare for your job search. For Teacher Job Fair dates, go to the career center web site. Note: Many local school districts host their own teacher job fairs. If you are targeting certain schools, be sure to check with the district office for job fairs. They often require advanced registration.
The Career Planning & Placement Center partners with the California Educational Placement Association and with the California Teacher Recruitment Centers to coordinate regional teacher job fairs and to provide career resources for new and prospective teachers. Visit their web sites for information on teacher preparation, sample interview questions, job fair tips, links to districts, job listings and other great resources. |

Teacher job listings from districts that want to reach California State University , Fullerton students are posted through the Career Planning & Placement Center online partner, MonsterTrak.com. First-time users must register their profile to access job listings. Go to www.fullerton.edu/career, and click on "Student" in the left hand margin. Read and follow the online directions. Call (714) 278-3121 if help is needed in navigating the system. Students registered on the career center web site will receive email bulletins of career resources such as teacher job fairs. Remember, while you are a student and after college, as an alumnus, you can always contact the Career Planning and Placement Center for career information and resources. |

During your year in the Credential Program you will be building your resume and Teaching Assessment Documentation (TAD). For tips on preparing these documents, and for information on how to submit application packets to school districts, visit the career center web site: www.fullerton.edu/career. Click on "student" in the left hand margin, and look for the link to Education. Before sending out your resume and cover letter, you can obtain an online critique from Jennifer Cunningham, Career Specialist for Education, jcummingham@fullerton.edu. Send them as MS Word® or text formatted enclosures. Please visit the TPA web site at http://ed.fullerton.edu/SecEd/tpa for additional information.
Also during your year in the Credential Program, you will be developing a professional identity that is distinctively you – a fresh, new teacher who is like your peers and at the same time unique in your perspectives, experiences and talents. Your classmates, faculty, supervisors and advisors are important resources for you in developing your professional vision and confidence. Take time to talk with others about your career goals, challenges, experiences, resources and philosophies. Share information about school districts. Look for opportunities to practice interview questions. Even though practicing feels artificial, you will learn through the process! Go to the career center web site for interview tips.
