| Biosketch |
- Ron has a Ph.D. Social Studies Curriculum and Instruction with a double minor in African Studies. Indiana University, 1978; an M.A. African History. University of California at Los Angeles, 1968; and a B.A. History. San Jose State University, 1965.
- He coordinates the Secondary Social Studies Education Program, which admits 25 new Social Studies teacher education students every semester. He also coordinates the undergraduate History Social Science Subject Matter Preparation Program at the CSUF campus. He led CSUF into being the first university in southern California to qualify for the new state subject matter program in 1994. He also teaches the year long Social Studies teacher education program on campus with Methods taught the first semester and Field Seminar being taught the second semester.
- Ron gained wide social studies teaching, curriculum development, and assessment experience before coming to CSUF. His prior experience included:
- Social Studies Chairperson & Technical Mentor Teacher. Hesperia High School/Victor Valley High School. Hesperia
- Director, Computer Education Center. New Haven, Connecticut
Social Studies Curriculum & Assessment Specialist, Maryland State Department of Education. Baltimore, Maryland
- Administrator, teacher and prime developer of the K-12 Social Studies Programme for the Botswana Ministry of Education in Africa
Ron's current professional work and service include the following:
- Executive Editor of the top refereed journal The Social Studies published by Heldref Publications, Washington, D.C.
- Site Director for FIRST [Fullerton International Resources for Schools and Teachers] a state subject matter project bringing over $700,000 to the CSUF campus over the past six years.
- Author of over 100 scholarly articles, manuals, and editorials [list available upon request]
- Presenter at over 100 professional education workshops, conferences, and conventions
