Scope of Credential (What will I be able to teach when I earn the credential?) |
The Single Subject Teaching Credential in Languages Other than English authorizes an individual to teach languages other than English in departmentalized classrooms. The holders of this credential may teach at any grade level, but the great majority of classes in languages other than English occur in grades seven through twelve. Languages taught include Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Italian, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese, Vietnamese, and American Sign.
California State University Fullerton offers the Single Subject Credential in French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

| You may establish Subject Matter Competency through successful completion of a Subject Matter Preparation Program. California State Fullerton offers SMPPs in the following content areas. Click on the links to see the specific coursework required. |

California Subject Examination for Teachers |
You may also establish Subject Matter Competency through successful passage of the appropriate California Subject Examination for Teachers in that content area. The table below identifies the specific subtests for each language area.
