Frequently Asked Questions
I have read all of the information on this website, but I still have questions.
Where can I get more detailed information?
Answer: Attending an Overview is the best way for new students
to get information about the options available to them. To find an
overview session that meets your availability call the overview hotline at
(714) 278-3412. Times will also be posted under News and
Announcements.
Who do I contact to talk to a faculty member about which classes to take?

advisor you were given in your admission letter for questions about what
classes to take and when to take them.
What if I have questions about a specific class I want to take?
Answer: talk to the faculty member teaching that class for the current semester
for all questions concerning grades, adding or dropping a specific class,
or for information about course due dates and/or assignments.

the department.
I am a credential student and have just been offered a full-time job with a
school district, how will this affect my coursework at CSU Fullerton?
Answer: You might want to consider applying to become an Intern.

enrolled student, please contact your advisor and/or Dr. Belinda Karge.
I want to apply for my credential where and who can help me?
Answer: Please contact the Credential Office at (714)278-3205 to obtain a credential application.
How do I withdraw from a class?
Answer: Contact the instructor and state your intention to withdraw first. Then
pick up a REQUEST FOR WITHDRAWAL form from Admissions and
Records. Fill out the form completely and honestly and hand it to
your instructor to fill out at least 24 hours before the deadline for withdrawal to maximize your chances of actually receiving a course
withdrawal. The due date can be found by looking inside the
semester class schedule or at the top of the withdrawal form. Once the
form is completed by the instructor and yourself, the department chair
must sign it and then it must be turned in by yourself to Admissions and
Records.
Can I be added to a class even if I was not able to register for it?
Answer: Contact the instructor and come to the first class meeting. You may
sometimes be added to a class even if registration says that it is closed
in certain circumstances, including the following: 1) if you meet the
prerequisites for the class, 2) the instructor decides to allow you to add
the class, and 3) the University allows the instructor to add additional
persons to the class. Please note that instructors are not required to
admit anyone who is not registered for a class and that there are at
times when regardless of the personal feeling of a particular instructor
about adding students, the University cannot allow a professor to admit
students into a class. If you are unable to add a class or obtain
permission to add a class you will have to wait until the next time the
class is offered.
How can I find out the office hours of Special Education faculty?
Answer: Office hours are posted outside of the offices of each faculty, and some
faculty state their office hours in their voicemail and/or email, so you
can call and/or email the faculty member to obtain their office hours. In
addition, if you are a continuing student, please check your course
syllabus for faculty office hours. In all other cases, please feel free
to either stop by the faculty offices located in the Educational Classroom
building on the 5th floor and check the office door for the
hours the member is available, refer to the faculty directory on this website. Please understand
that faculty can and most often do refuse to see prospective students who
wish to obtain information about the department and what it offers, these
questions are best answered through attending an Overview session.
Whom do I call to set up a meeting with a SPED faculty member?
Answer: Faculty members in Special Education set their own meeting times with
students, so you must contact the faculty member using voicemail or email
and request a meeting directly. See the Faculty Directory for contact information. Please state the reason, your name, and
your contact information along with your availability to expedite the
meeting process. IF YOU PHONE, PLEASE STATE YOUR PHONE NUMBER
SLOWLY AND ENUNCIATE YOUR SPEECH CLEARLY.
How can I get a CLAD certification?
Answer: CLAD certification is offered through the Elementary and Secondary
Departments.
Where do I go to add a SPED
class or find information about classes that are still open?
Are there any helpful links that I should be aware of?
How do I get my thesis or project bound?
Answer: Students take the approved copy of the thesis, two signed title and approval pages, and the signed Thesis Approval Form to the campus bookstore and pays the appropriate fees. The bookstore arranges for the binding of the thesis by a local bindery and other services by University Microfilms International (UMI). Once submitted and receipted, the thesis may not be withdrawn by the student from the campus bookstore. The campus bookstore sends the approved original or duplicated copy (including the original signed approval page) to University Microfilms International for filming and publication of the abstract, and upon its return sends it to the bindery. Please refer to Graduate Studies Theses and Project for more details.
