Resources and Tools for Grant Writing

This site is designed to orient beginning grant writers regarding funding procedures and assist COE faculty pursuing grant funding for special projects. Included are resources found here on campus, tools (forms, sample grants) and many online resources.

CSUF Resources
Following is a description of CSUF campus offices that offer assistance with possible grant opportunities, proposal/budget preparation, and offer general consultation:

Grants and Contracts
The Grants and Contracts Office assist CSUF faculty in:

  • Finding government sponsored (state/federal agencies) funding opportunities and resources
  • Proposal preparation
  • Budget preparation
  • IRB compliance and regulations

Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation (formerly "University Advancement Foundation") The Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation provides assistance to CSUF faculty by:

  • Processing grant proposals to private foundations, corporations and individuals
  • Overseeing post-award operations (i.e., check requests)

Faculty Development Center (FDC)   
The Faculty Development Center coordinates several intratmural grants that directly support CSUF faculty teaching and scholarly/creative activities. They include:

  • International Travel Grants
  • Untenured Faculty Development Grants
  • Undergraduate Research/Creative Activity Grants
  • Teaching Mini Grants
  • Faculty Enhancement and Instructional Development Grants (FEID)
  • Robert and Louise Lee Collaborative Teaching Award
  • CSUF Office of Grants and Contracts
  • Faculty Research Travel

The Foundation Center
The Center provides a comprehensive and up-to-date database on foundations and corporate giving programs, and publishes The Foundation Directory--the classic reference work for grantseekers--and some 50 other directories, guides and research reports. This site now features reference help from the Online Librarian.

GrantsWeb
GrantsWeb is a starting point for accessing grants-related information and resources on the Internet. GrantsWeb organizes links to grants-related Internet sites and resources, including funding opportunities, grants data bases, policy developments, and professional activities.

Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance
A government-wide compendium of all 1,425 Federal programs, projects, services, and activities that provide assistance or benefits to the American public.  These programs provide grants, loans, loan guarantees, services, information, scholarships, training, insurance, etc., to millions of Americans every day.

Grantseeker Tips
This distribution list disseminates bi-weekly tips and ideas for people wanting to successfully pursue grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. Tips cover all aspects of planning and writing proposals: identifying funding sources, electronic information sources, making pre-proposal contacts, technical writing tips, constructing budgets, and document design.
