Teaching Credentials: Three Semester Block

Three semester blocks require evening classes (taught from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and/or from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.). Some blocks may also hold Saturday classes.

Three-Semester Overview

  • Semester 1: 12 units
  • Semester 2: 12 units
  • Semester 3: 14 units

Coursework: First Semester

Concurrent enrollment in the following three courses is required. Courses are integrated and team taught by program faculty. Admission to the teacher education program is prerequisite to all of the following courses:

  • EDEL 430 Foundations in Elementary School Teaching (3)
  • EDEL 433 Language Arts and Reading Instruction in the Public Schools (3)
  • EDEL 434 Methods and Inquiry for Teaching English Learners (2)
  • EDEL 435 Curriculum and Instruction in Elementary School Teaching - Math (3)
  • EDEL 438 Supervised Fieldwork in Elementary Schools (1)
  • TPA Tasks:  SSP & DI

Coursework: Second Semester

Concurrent enrollment in the following four courses is required. Courses are integrated and team taught by program faculty. Admission to the teacher education program is prerequisite to all of the following courses:

  • EDEL 437 Curriculum and Instruction in Elementarty School Teaching-Social Studies (2)
  • EDEL 438 Supervised Fieldwork in Elementary Schools (1)
  • EDEL 439 Student Teaching (5)
  • EDEL 450 Visual & Performing Arts Seminar (1)
  • EDEL 451 Community, School and Classroom Issues Seminary (1)
  • EDEL452 PE, Health and Mainstreaming Seminar (1)
  • TPA Task: AL

Coursework: Third Semester

This semester requires a full-time commitment.

  • EDEL 429 Integrated Curriculum and Instruction in the Elementary Schools (3)
  • EDEL 436 Curriculum and Instruction in Elementary School Teaching - Science (2)
  • EDEL 439 Student Teaching (9)
