Dr. Carmen Zuniga Dunlap
Dr. Carmen Zuniga Dunlap joined the CSUF
faculty in 1989. She earned a doctorate in Education with an emphasis
in applied linguistics from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
Dr. Dunlap serves as the block leader for the BCLAD/Intern block.
She teaches reading/language arts courses in the BCLAD Multiple
Subject program and graduate courses in the Diversity Emphasis strand.
She wrote the B/CLAD Credential and the CLAD Certificate documents.
Her research interests include examining issues of language and
literacy development, most especially as they relate to second language
learners, and teacher preparation for diverse settings. Her research
has appeared in the Journal of Teacher Education, Journal of Research and Development
in Education , and Journal of Educational Issues
of Language Minority Students.She co-authored two chapters on diversity issues in teacher education,
and wrote a grant whose focus is to expand parent involvement and
community development in a Latino community. She serves as a reviewer
for Allyn and Bacon Publishers and an international journal. She
taught at the University of Arizona, and has several years of public
schools teaching experience in the United States and Latin America
that ranges from first grade through high school and includes extensive
experience in bilingual education programs. Dr. Zuniga Dunlap is
currently the Associate Dean of the College of Education.
