Dr. Evelyn Weisman
Dr. Evelyn Marino Weisman joined the faculty in 1997 after receiving
her Ph.D. from the Claremont Graduate University. Her research interests
include bicultural development and teacher education issues related
to working with children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
She has published articles in Urban Education, Equity and Excellence
in Education, and Issues in Teacher Education on topics related
to bicultural identity and teacher preparation for diversity. Among
the courses taught by Dr. Weisman in the Multiple Subject Credential
Program are Reading and Language Arts, and Methods for Teaching
English Learners. She also teaches Graduate Studies in Education:
Second Languages, and Multicultural Curriculum as part of the CLAD
Certificate and Masters Degree Programs.
Dr. Weisman's professional background includes experience as a
bilingual classroom teacher, district curriculum specialist, and
elementary school principal in the public schools.
