What is the difference between the Credential Preparation Center and Admission to Teacher Education?
The Credential Preparation Center acts as the liaison between the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the credential applicant. When you have completed the credential program you will contact this office to receive your credential application.
The Admission to Teacher Education Program provides an applicant information on California State University, Fullerton's numerous credential programs. They also assist with admission into the credential program.
How do I contact the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing?
Visit the CCTC website at
www.ctc.ca.gov to answer most questions you will encounter regarding credentialing in California. If you need further assistance send an e-mail to
credentials@ctc.ca.gov or call (888) 921-2682.
What is the procedure to renew a Professional Clear / Clear Credential?
- Connect to the internet at
www.ctc.ca.gov .
- Click on "California Teacher Credential Look-up and Renewal."
- Enter your social security number and date of birth.
- Select the "renew" box next to the credential(s) that you wish to renew.
- If you have a Professional Clear Credential you will need to enter information for the self-verification process. If you hold a 30-Day Substitute Permit, a Clear, or a Professional Credential the system will take you directly to step 4.
- Answer the Personal and Professional Fitness questions. If you answer "yes" to a question, a full explanation is required in the text box provided.
- Complete all required fields to process your payment. If you entered a confirmation e-mail address, you will receive an e-mail confirmation shortly thereafter.
- Print the confirmation of payment page for your records and record your confirmation number.

How do I register my credential?
California teaching and services credentials should be registered only in the Office of the County Superintendent of Schools in which you are employed immediately upon receipt. This may be done by mail or in person, and there is no fee for the registration. Your school district personnel office may register the credential for you. If you are not currently employed, please do not register your credential.
For registration in Orange County by mail, please include the following information:
- The official copy of your credential.
- Your address.
- Your date of birth.
- The name of the school district in which you are teaching or serving.
- Any change of name under which any former credential was registered or service was rendered.
- Any change of name since your present credential was issued.

Individuals who have completed college or university coursework at an institution in a country other than the United States must obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts, degrees, and other relevant documents prior to applying to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing for a California credential, permit, or certificate.
