A Message from Dean CavallaroDean Claire Cavallaro

Welcome to the College of Education at Cal State Fullerton.  I hope you’ll enjoy exploring our web site, where you’ll find information about our acclaimed programs that prepare teachers and educational leaders.

Our programs are well known for their excellence. Cal State Fullerton has the only program in Orange County that is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation in Teacher Education (NCATE).  This means that we offer intellectually rigorous programs which are relevant to the needs of today’s classrooms, as judged by a national panel of professionals.  For more information on the significance of NCATE, see http://www.ncate.org/public/whyNCATE.asp?ch=2 and for information about our 2007 accreditation review, see http://coeonline.fullerton.edu/Accreditation2007/.

The College has several promising new initiatives and programs this fall, such as:

  • The Community College emphasis of our independent EdD program, ( http://ed.fullerton.edu/edd/) was approved in August 2008.  This fall, we have admitted students to both the Community College emphasis and the existing k-12 administration emphasis of the doctoral program.
  • The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards has selected Cal State Fullerton to offer a Professional Teaching Development Center (PTDC) http//ed.fullerton.edu/PTDC/Index.html, which will serve as a regional focal point and resource provider for accomplished teaching in California.
  • Promethean Activboards are being installed in College of Education classrooms this fall.  These interactive white boards will enable students to expand their repertoire of education technology skills, (http://www.prometheanworld.com/us/)
